The day begins with a scenic drive around Lake Wanaka and into the Matukituki Valley where you cross several fords to reach the start of the walk. The guided trek follows the banks of the Matukituki River, before crossing a swing bridge to reach Mt Aspiring National Park. You will follow the track as it steadily climbs through New Zealand rainforest, beside cascading streams and waterfalls with glimpses of the Rob Roy glacier in the distance. After a leisurely 2hr walk, the forest drops away and the glory of the Rob Roy Glacier comes into sight. Here you take time to relax and enjoy one of the best views Mother Nature offers, while eating your picnic lunch. During the walk your guide will share their in depth knowledge of the flora, fauna and geology of this area, as well pointing out the best spots for taking some stunning photographs.
